First of all, whoever told you to ask the Jews and not them, is not a christian. Alot of people may think they are something, but it's all the way you live your life. Anyone can talk alot. Who can practice good deeds and live according to what is "right" , all the time. And that's basically all that this scripture is saying. We don't have to be EXACT to every word in the Bible. It's a story, meant to give us an idea on how to live.
