In the teacher's defense, she is obligated by law to report any suspicion of abuse to the authorities. Had it been a true incident of abuse and she had called the parents first, the child may have been abused again for telling the teacher, and could even be pulled out of school by the parent in an attempt to not get caught. It happens all the time sadly enough. How your friend should deal with it is hard to say.
