Does harvey dent know that his coin is double sided before his face gets burned?

okay i'm confused......in the dark knight when harvey dent is laying down in the hospital bed (after he got burned) he realizes that the coin is double sided......and then he rips the bandage off of his face. Is he just doing that because he is upset about Rachel, or is he ripping it off because he is realizing that the coin is fake?
